jullian Assange Arrested

Julian Assange, 47, Wikileaks founder got arrested on Thursday, at  Ecuadorian Embassy in London. He has been living in London for the last seven years. He is charged for stealing military secrets with Chelsea Manning, the former Army intelligence analyst who supplied thousands of classified documents to WikiLeaks.

Julian helped Chelsea for cracking the code and helping her to gains access to the computer network that didn’t belong to his name, that made the tracing more difficult. “Assange, who did not possess a security clearance or need to know, was not authorized to receive classified information of the United States,” US prosecutors said.

“Ecuador has illegally terminated Assange political asylum in violation of international law,” Wikileaks said on Twitter. In the statement by his legal team it says, “It will be a sad day for democracy if the UK and Ecuadorean governments are willing to act as accomplices to the Trump administration’s determination to prosecute a publisher for publishing truthful information,”  Julian Assange appeared at the Westminster Magistrates’ Court in central London where he faced the sentence of 12 months into prison. The Judge of the court calls him, “narcissist who cannot get beyond his own selfish interest,”

Julian was also charged with sexual assault in 2012. To avoid extradition to Sweden he moved to London. But his charges have been dropped but Julian didn’t move out of fear. Wikileaks launched in 2006 and had released more than 10 million secrets. The Justice Department under Obama declines to press charges against him as the steps taken by Wikileaks is considered journalism hat.

The USA has confirmed that it will seek extradition of Assange from the UK. But the attorney of Assange said that they will fight the extradition process which will lead to a long and legal dispute in the court system. Chelsea Manning was convicted in 2013 under Espionage Act and released in May 2017 from the military prison in Kansas. She was granted clemency during his final days of office from Obama from her 35 years of the sentence. She has been in jail for the past month in Virginia after being found under the contempt of court for refusing to testify to the grand jury investigating Assange.

President Trump responds to Assange arrest. “I know nothing really about him,” Trump said of Assange, “That’s not my deal in life,” he added.
