Belcalis Almanzar, popularly known as Cardi B is a 26-year-old singer, was alleged for her role of premeditated attacks on two bartenders at Queens Strip club in 2018.
The Grammy-winning artist has pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to a felony as well as misdemeanor charges over her. During the court arraignment two of her alleged accomplices Tawana Jackson 36, and Jeffery Bush 34 also pleaded not guilty to the charges in the indictment.
Drew Findling lawyer for Ms. Belcalis Almanzar, spoke outside the court and mentioned that there will be positive outcomes for Cardi.
“I know Cardi B to be a decent and a kind human being, which is why I joined this defense team,” he said.
While Ms. Jackson and Mr. Bush were not willing to comment on the case.
Ms. Belcalis Almanzar is accused of plotting an attack on the 15th of August where four women repeatedly punched a female bartender working in Angels Strip Club in Flushing. The district attorney office alleges that Ms. Almanazar and Ms. Jackson used the means of social media to cast an attack upon the bartenders.
While Mr. Bush videotaped the entire attack and also prevented the people from intervening to stop the attack, as mentioned by the prosecutors.
Aside from entering her name and entering a not-guilty plea, Ms. Belcalis Almanzar remained silent throughout the hearing. She also waved as she left the court after the hearing.
Ms. Belcalis Almanzar and Ms. Jackson are also accused of plotting another attack on the 29th of August, on a bartender of the same club who is sister to the victim of the first assault. According to the prosecutors Ms. Almanzar, Ms. Jackson, and Mr. Bush allegedly hurled bottles at the bartender during the incident.
“This kind of violence will not be tolerated in our community,” Acting Queens District Attorney said John Ryan said in a statement after the Tuesday’s arraignment. “The defendants will be held accountable for their alleged actions.” He added.
